The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania was established in 1952. It is home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth – the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. The resident population of lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, and birds is also impressive. There’s a wide variety of accommodation available, from luxury lodges to mobile camps. The park covers 5,700 sq miles, (14,763 sq km), it’s larger than Connecticut, with at most a couple hundred vehicles driving around.

Where is the Great Migration during the year?
The herds move in a year-round loop that follows the rains. As a rough guide they are on the southern plains around Ndutu from December to March (calving is usually in late January and February), move through the central and western Serengeti from April to June, and reach the northern Serengeti and the Mara River from July to October. Timing changes from year to year, so we plan your route around the latest movements.
How many days should I spend in the Serengeti?
Two full days is the minimum to do the park justice, as it is large and the drive in takes time. Three or four nights combined with the Ngorongoro Crater is the most popular plan.
