Tsavo West is the more rugged half of the Tsavo ecosystem: volcanic hills, lava flows and green springs, with views of Kilimanjaro on clear days. It has a wonderful variety of scenery for a single park.
At Mzima Springs, crystal-clear water from the Chyulu Hills feeds pools where hippos and crocodiles can be watched from an underwater viewing point. The park is also home to the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, and it combines naturally with Amboseli and Tsavo East.
