Katavi is one of Tanzania’s most remote national parks, and one of its most rewarding. In the dry season the rivers shrink to a few channels and pools, and huge numbers of animals gather around them.
Expect very large buffalo herds, crowded hippo pools and lions following the herds, with hardly any other vehicles in sight. Katavi is usually reached by light aircraft and pairs perfectly with Mahale for chimpanzees.
