Uganda’s smallest national park sits on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes, where Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo meet. It shares its mountain gorillas and bamboo forests with the wider Virunga range.
Alongside gorilla trekking, Mgahinga is one of the best places to see golden monkeys, and fit hikers can climb its volcanoes — including Sabinyo, whose summit touches three countries. The Batwa Trail shares the forest knowledge of the Batwa people.

Do I need a permit?
Yes. Gorilla permits are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and are limited each day; we arrange them as part of your trip. The minimum age is 15.
