Ruaha is one of Tanzania’s largest national parks and one of its most remote. Rugged hills, baobab-studded plains and the Great Ruaha River give it a wild, uncrowded character, and it is not unusual to spend a whole morning without seeing another vehicle.
Ruaha is known for its big lion prides and large elephant population, and it is one of the few places in East Africa where you might see both greater and lesser kudu. Leopard, cheetah and wild dog are also found here. Most visitors arrive by light aircraft, and Ruaha pairs well with Nyerere National Park on a southern circuit.
