Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley, about two hours from Nairobi, fringed with yellow fever trees and papyrus. It is one of the few places on a Kenya safari where you can explore on foot, by boat and by bicycle.
Boat trips pass hippo pods and fish eagles, and walking safaris on Crescent Island take you among giraffe, zebra and antelope with no predators around. Nearby, Hell’s Gate National Park has dramatic cliffs and gorges you can cycle and hike through, and Mount Longonot offers a crater-rim hike.
