The Simien Mountains are one of Africa’s great trekking regions: jagged peaks and sheer escarpments that drop hundreds of metres to the lowlands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Troops of gelada monkeys graze on the grassy clifftops, and the park is home to the rare Walia ibex, found nowhere else, and the Ethiopian wolf. Treks range from day walks to multi-day routes towards Ras Dashen, Ethiopia’s highest mountain.
